I like ships, I think a very large vehicle has a certain charm. Although 40 mph sounds slow, when you are actually on a ship doing that it feels very fast. I have much experience of travelling on ferries, because of course until the Channel Tunnel if you wanted drive onto the continent you had to take the ferry, and there are many ferries operating the English Channel crossing. Well here is some information of ships, I haven't been able to match up the exact names etc. but I have done my best.
Ferry
Travelling by ferry can be quite
fun, the great difference about ferries to other forms of transport
is that in about the hour it takes to cross from Dover to Calais,
you can walk around, go shopping or go to the cinema, or go outside
and whatch the sea. Yep its good.
HoverCraft
I travelled on a hovercraft once
(dover-calias) and really wasn't very impressed. For saftey regulations
it didn't actually tavel at 70 mph only about 50mph, it wasn't
like a ferry at all, everyone had to sit down and put on a seatbelt,
the only time you could walk around was if you wanted to go to
the toilet. It was rather bumpy too and overall despite taking
half the time of a ferry I would choose it again.
