Airports and Aeroplanes
- Planes need to be classified as Jumbo Jets, such as the darwin
300 and Dinger 200 and supersonic, or prop jet (296 mph planes)
- The small airport should always be available, even after 1956
and the slow 296 Mph planes should always be available too, as
they are still in operation today.
- Another possibility would be to customise your own airport,
build your own runway, and Jumbos and supersonic aircraft should
need a runway 8 squares long, 6 squares for standard planes and
4 squares for prop jet planes. Then it would be up to you to design
an efficient airport all on one level, the buildings, the gates
etc.
- Planes should actually fly at their quoted speed. When you
watch a 592 Mph plane being over-taken by a 250 Mph Maglev, you
realise clearly something is wrong. Also, have you ever had a
race between a 400 Mph maglev and a 1,488 Mph plane?
- Better simulation of airport burocracy, perhaps this could
be done by having a long loading/unloading time, as in real life
aircraft only spend 30% of their time in the air.
- Planes should have certain ranges before they run out of fuel,
and this could be one of the things developing over time. There
should also be a feature telling you the distance between two
airports.
- When flying between two airports only just in the range of
the aircraft, if the aircraft is required to circle for a while,
then the risk of running out of fuel and crashing should be high.
Perhaps the computer could give you a warning though such as a
news article "Plane forced to make emergency landing at...."
this can warn you that there is a problem. If you leave it unresolved
next time it could result in a crash.
- There should be an increased risk of crash if a large number
of aircraft are forced to circle an airport, the risk should be
of mid-air collision. Again you could have "near miss"
news articles to warn you of a problem. Two ways to resolve it
could be to build another runway or to reduce the number of aircraft
going to that airport.
- Like in real life you should be able to vary the amount of
seats on an aircraft but the more people you cram in the lower
your ratings.
- Aircraft (especially post 2000) should have an amenities rating.
If they have on board shops and things, and you should be able
to add such amenities to boost your ratings. For example you should
have the option of reducing the capacity of the Dinger 200, but
in return putting in shops and restaurants and other features.
- If a crash occurs and it is a result of your own negligence,
you may be sued by the local authority. This would be more realistic.
- Tall buildings should not be allowed either end of the runway,
the reasons are clear.
