Road Vehicles and Roads
- It would be more realistic if say buses were only allowed
to travel at 30mph in towns.
- Traffic should be simulated in towns with the amount of traffic
being proportional to the population of the town.
- Local Authorities should from time to time decide to build
a road between their town and a nearby town, for use of private
cars.
- When two towns are connected by a road, the demand for public
transport should be slightly reduced as a result of people making
private journeys. However, if you own the road you could introduce
a toll (at risk of upsetting the Local authority) to keep the
demand for public transport high. (Toll income should be negligible)
- Like trains you should have to pay maintainance for roads,
which is proportional to the quantity and speed of vehicles travelling
on it.
- In very large towns local authorities should have the power
to implement tolls on vehicles travelling into/through the town
center.
- You should be in charge of some road signs, for example setting
a speed limit just before a bend. However, if you set no speed
limit a bus might take the corner at 70mph, causing a risk of
crash.
- Also on busy roads you might want to be able to select no
overtaking because overtaking could be a big source of potential
crashes, at the moment it doesn't seem to mind for two road vehicles
to go through each other.
