Building through farmland

Note: Since in the original version of transport tycoon there is no farmland, this cheat is only applicable to the deluxe version

Building through farmland can be an expensive business. In the example below I want to build a line through a field. Here is a cost estimate:

Now at £2,285 it’s a very expensive operation. But there is a way out:

At a cost of £15 per square trees are planted along the route. Once there are trees all along where the railway is to go another cost estimate is done:

This time the estimated cost is £455. Now that is 5 sqares so the cost for the trees is, 5 x £15 = £75. So the total cost is £455+£75=£530, compared with £2,285!! So its all systems go to build it:

The only drawback about this cheat is that when you destroy the trees your rating with the local authority decreases. Otherwise this is an excellent cheat and particularly useful when starting up a young small company and transporting grain or livestock to and from farms.
