Railways are key to transport tycoon, few people will argue otherwise. Now with up to 80 trains, it would be rediculous to have tracks and stations for every single train, so as with in real life one big or several large networks can be built using many trains. Here is some advice on building such networks.
General advice
My best advice is just to keep an eye on your rail network. If you see trains hitting red signals regularly, look for a way to get around it. Remember junctions do not have to be symmetrical, the traffic on one side may be a lot more heavy than on the other, so build extra relief tracks on the heavy traffic side. Some would say the most efficient thing is to have tracks for every train. Now with 80 trains thats a lot of tracks, especially if you want to do some long distance (most profitable) travel.
